The Meet Up

Well I got a call earlier from Jerry today and he came over and we had some coffee and a chat.  He wanted to hang out tomorrow and walk around to see where some hot spots for filming and mark it down for the future when he is filming.  I was asking him about how it is going with his filming in Portland Maine and if he was making any progress.  He told me that it is going very slow.

We are to meet up tomorrow in the town which is good.  I know tomorrow is a holiday, I am not sure about the bus transportation if they are running, but if they are not running.

I gotten a call from Catherine.  Omg, what a coincidence.  I guess Jerry talked to her earlier that he was here for some coffee.  She wanted to join the meet up tomorrow so I thought that was great.

Readings

Well I gotten a dialogue and did some reading about it.  I did let Jerry and Catherine know that I was doing this so that they could be able to film it.  It is a really good one piece script.  I will  be enjoying this.

I must ask them if they would be interested in casting actors for voluntary basis at the time until their filming production becomes bigger and better for the Portland Maine area.  They are working on it slowly and gradually.

Unexpected Call from Catherine.

I had gotten a call from Catherine the other day.  I haven't seen her or Jerry for a few weeks now.  I suppose they have been pretty much busy with their filming.  Catherine wanted to come over to the house to continue to talk about what we should do for filming.  I asked her to come on over this weekend.  Jerry wouldn't be able to come over since he will be busy.  That was fine because I have been pretty much busy with my classes, coming up to the end of the term.  I told Catherine why doesn't she come on over anyway this weekend and we could hang out and discuss a few things.  She agreed.

Need to put on more shows

Sorry The Hip Show haven't been working on our show.  How long has it been?  Just about 7 weeks now?  Long time since we last put a show on.   We have been pretty busy with every day things just like everybody else.  We are still trying to get around to make it a routine with set scheduled dates to work on our shows on Blogtalkradio.

Please make sure that if you hae any idea topics you would like to discuss, let us know we will consider of putting the show on.  Also if you would like to come on to the show, just let us know so we are aware of that you will be calling.  It will just give us heads up on expecting you for that particular show.

Special thanks

I was thinking back in Ireland when I went to MaGee University to do Community Drama for two years.  It was so nice to do that class with a variety backgrounds.  I made some nice friends and I had lost some of them due to stopped communicating. I did kept in touch with a couple of others.

I really do miss those times.  Would I do it again?  Of course.  Sometimes I wish there were parts of the class that was filmed.  But the only part of the class was filmed was our finals where we had to put on a play.  Sad to say that I had lost my copy.

Anyway, I know it was a long time since the Community Drama class, but I just had to post a web "Thank you" to James King so the world could see this.  He's a really good instructor and hopefully someday others will experience what I had went through.

I also would like to thank my friend Caroline Bradly, for the laughter.  Bernadette McFarland, another one who was in the class for being a really good person.

I am going to check out around the area if there are any workshops.  I am not sure if they do that but it would be nice to join a few of them.

The Meet

Well, Jerry and Catherine came over yesterday and it was nice to meet up with them again.  I had made home-made Cappuccino for the three of us and we had a nice chat.  We were having such a great time talking and laughing.  They are such nice people.  At first I thought they were together as boyfriend/girlfriend but discovered that they are actually cousins.

They were telling me that their goal is to film more in the Maine area.  It was interesting of them telling me all this because I had noticed that there aren't much filming around the Portland Maine and other parts of the Maine area.  It seems that Maine is not much of a target to be filming, however, Jerry and Catherine are presently working on together to change that so there will be more film production around the area.

I thought it was a wonderful thing to hear that two people are willing to go out and make a change.  Perhaps it would be more offers to those actors to get in more professionally rather than just theater work.  Maine needs more filming.  Its such a beautiful place and I don't see how professional film productions could even miss out on this wonderful state.  There are loads of nice scenes where they could use for settings.

Another project with the students

It is such a beautiful day, blue skies and not a cloud in the sky.  I decided to go out and into the time.  While I was in town there was a couple of who approached me.  They looked familiar to me but I couldn't place where I remember them from.  They also recognized me and they identified themselves as the students who were filming out in public. That's where remember them from.   They were the students from back around the beginning of the year where they asked me to play a role of a homeless person.  I was quite surprised to see them and remembered me.  They explained to me that they were doing another project for the summer and asked if I could be able to participate in their project.  I told them that I would do it and had fun with them last time.

Since I have Keurig coffee maker I invited them over to have a cappuccino or whichever and sit down and discuss this project they have in mind.  We'll see.

One Year Anniversary "This Life Values"

Wow it is amazing that my first episode from This Life Values is already a year filmed as of today.   If I had more experience with filming and more people to help me film the episode, I am sure that it would be a better episode.

I had realized that this episode, the scene of the fireworks was too long.  But I would say that it wasn't a bad episode for first timer.  Afterall, I did everything in this.

The Hip Shows

I had stopped working on The Hip Show on blogtalkradio for a few months now.  I am trying to get back into the swing of things to making more shows for The Hip Show.  I am preparing for some upcoming shows to work on.  I was thinking of bringing in a co-host as well to work along aside with me to discuss together and callers are welcome to continue calling in to give their view on the subject.

I think it would be great to get some actors to come onto the show as our guest.  I do have a few that may be willing to come onto the show for a discussion.  We'll see.

More disappointment with Model Actor Factor LCC

I had discovered that my photo is up on IMDB on Marcia Bell's (Model Actor Factor LCC) page. I had specifically told her that I was not going to get involved with her so-called agency since I moved to Maine because she doesn't work with people in Maine. Also she hasn't done anything while I was in the Vancouver Washing area (near Oregon), and now that I moved up to Portland Maine she still thinks I'm with the agency.  According to her, the agency deals with California and New York and she doesn't do Maine. I don't know what other places she deals with but told her that I cannot go down to New York every-time there is a part.  I just don't have that kind of money, not to mention she hasn't done anything about giving me parts from the start while I was in Vancouver Washington.

I did make it clear to her that when I moved to Maine that I will not be able to get to New York each time due to funds.   I don't want to be part of her agency, that would never get me anywhere.  And it hasn't happened after 4 years.  I'm not sure what part does she not get?  She keeps pushing at me.  She then tells me that she could get me in, however, she doesn't work with anyone in Maine.  If she doesn't work for people in Maine, why is she even telling me all this?

So yesterday she was mentioning about my photo on her IMDB and asked if I saw it.  I had no clue that she has my picture up on there.  After I saw my picture, I did tell her to please to take it down.  I rather be on  her website with success that I had done rather than all her talk and fantasy and that's what basically what it has been all this time; All Talk But No Action.  Its kind of like a glamor, just to show that she has a page and to see how many people she could get in on the page, la de da da.  That's ridiculous.  Its not reality.  So when I asked her to take the photo down, she refused and said if I wanted it taken down, I could take it down myself.  Not only that I thought that was rude, but it was very unprofessional as an agent (so she calls herself) to expose herself with kind of attitude.  That will definitely give her a bad name.

Volunteering Thoughts

All of a sudden I was thinking about volunteering at a theater. I am not sure which area but I thought about it a couple of times in the past and now the idea of it is back again. I figure it would be a cool idea to keep myself busy from being bored.

I started to look at some of the photos on Portland Stage Theater website and I was smiling at these photos how it brought joy and happiness to these actors.  It was bringing back memories when I was on stage back in Ireland and the time we went on our residential weekend having a good laugh.

The reason for my wanting to volunteer at the theaters was to get my foot in the door in the theater industry and then work my way from there.  I was actually thinking of helping out the college students if they need any volunteers to help them out with their videos.

Online Character

I was browsing the Internet mid-March 2012 and I had came across with this website and I thought it was some sort of ning website for actors. I had checked it out and it turned out to be a website where actors can go on and join in the fun and create their character for Beckinsfield city. Of course the modulators take control of what is happening, but the owners of the site would like the actors to be creative too at the same time.

I am still with Beckinsfield but I haven't made any videos for the past few weeks. From what I had gathered was that us actors are allowed to use Beckinsfield for our resume. So I will be adding that onto my resume.

Its hard to come up with different ideas for my Character.  I might have to go on there like once a week or once every two weeks or whichever.  We'll have to see.

Reality Show

During my time in last summer, I wanted to do something different and also challenge myself to perform more. I thought about a reality show.  So Fourth of July was coming up and I decided to work on the first episode from there. I already had a name for my reality show which was "This Life Values". After I worked on the first episode, I didn't realize how much work it was.  It was a lot of work to do for myself and keeping up with my classes for school.

This Life Values (Webisode 1) from Brian Doherty on Vimeo.

During that time my partner and I were thinking of relocating and I thought it would be great to document our traveling from Washington to Maine. I then realized that I was the one who would be doing all the driving and we really wouldn't be doing much site-seeing, well for me anyways because of I was the one who would be driving across country all by myself.  Sad to say that we didn't document anything for me to work on.

I would like to work on This Life Values again, it is just the thought of working on the episodes and editing and all that.  I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if I had people to help out.  So until then I have to put This Life Values on hold until I have more time with it.

Laughing People

You know I was reading someone's blog.   He was in school taking up photography.  He was having a discussion with his teacher and he was saying that he was going to take up acting.  The teacher laughed at him.  I got annoyed because whenever someone mentions they want to do some acting, the other person laughs at it.  I am not sure why teachers, families, friends tend to laugh at those who wants to break into acting.  Instead of laughing about it, why don't they encourage them. They should be happy at those who want to break into acting if it is going to make them feel about about it.  Its a disgrace to hear these kind of things and a teacher to act this way rather supporting him.

Support on Casting Directors for Actors on Facebook

I am a member & enjoy Casting Directors for Actors Facebook page and making conversation with other actors.  I had made quite a few actors on there who are very nice and pleasant.

There was one person on there gave his view about the page, complaining about actors wanting other actors to "Like" their page.  I don't think that Casting Directors for Actors Facebook is all about actors "Liking" other actor's pages, its all about supporting each other.  Without that support how are others going to encourage, and spread the word out to other actors.  If an actor happens to like another actor's page, they could send out information about them about the possibilities of their next role or whichever?  I actually think the guy was just being rude because all he is seeing are other actors adding their personal pages and to like their page.  I actually think it could benefit other actors.

Casting Call, DiBacco Films

About a month ago, a Stacey, a talent agency was telling me that there is a film around Maine area and she had placed my name down for it.  I thought this was great.  Of course I was having these doubts thinking about Model Actor Factor LCC letting me down so many times.

I was looking at Stacey's talent agency facebook page and I realized that it is June 16th which means it hasn't passed yet.  Here is the details that I got from her page.

Photography

I have always been interested in photography for many years but I haven't really took the time to check out the aperture and speed functions, and of course the lighting. What I always try to do is go for the natural lighting when I am taking pictures. My friend Caroline is taking up a photography class and I think she wants to do some traveling for her photography which is a good thing.

I bought a Canon EOS digital camera and I use it many times. Mostly for my videos. I haven't read the book for it, perhaps I will pretty soon. I have taken many self portraits of myself.  Here are couple of photographs that I had taken.

This is a self portrait of myself.  It was raining out so it was kind
of difficult to get as much lighting as possible

This was taken in Vancouver Washington where I used to live on our
patio.  I am not sure what you call these flowers but I loved the colors on them.

Whiney Agencies

I get a kick out of certain agencies who whines about how much work they do and when something happens and an actor and have to change plans or as Marcia Brady says "something suddenly came up", the agencies tend to get annoyed. All they think about is themselves. They have to understand that if something happens in an actor's life, actors do have the opportunity to pass up on an audition. I feel that its their right to change it so that they could be able to deal with their personal life. Yes the actor should let the agency know about it, however, sometimes the actor does not have time to make that call.  If an agency suspects something is wrong with one of their clients they should make that courtesy call to make sure everything is okay.  I also believe in making confirming phone calls, emails or however you would like to do it, so that both the agency and the actor are on the same page.

Performers Needed

Looking for performers for the stage play Cmere.  This stage play will be based in Portland Maine.

Cmere is taken place in a waiting room at a hospital where the McClearys wait for their mother's prognosis. The question is in the air who phoned for the ambulance and it was a big mystery to them.

They all start rambling on about their lives and secrets. Another question lays in the air wondering who really is there for the money because they all knew their mother has alot of money stashed away and most likely is in the Will somewhere.

Little that they suspect, all along in the waiting room the caller has been with them the whole time listening in every word that they say and every move that they make and he is very disgusted on how they are behaving and suddenly explodes with rage due to the fact that they aren't really there for her but there for the money.

If you have any questions about the following characters, please let me know:

ARNOLD McCLEARY also known as "Arnie" is in his mid-40s who works at a bank which explains why he enters the stage in his suit coming to the hospital from work He is the older brother. He holds a deep secret from his wife Bernie for a long time because he knows she doesn't know when to keep her big mouth shut.

BERNADATTE McCLEARY also known as "Bernie" is Arnie's wife and is always in everybody's business and loves juicy gossip. She doesn't know when to keep quiet. She is not to fond of Arnie's younger sister and always has something to say about Caroline whenever she's not around.

CAROLINE McCLEARY is Arnie's younger sister who is spunky and knows how to have a good laugh. she cannot stand whenever Bernie's is around. Caroline speaks how she feels especially when Bernie's is concerned. although she holds a secret and tries to tell Arnie that she is in love with their cousin David.
Caroline knows about Arnie's secret and doesn't care if Arnie hurts Bernie's feelings at all.

COUSIN DAVID The role is for one who looks in his late 30s. Able to know a little about card tricks and
be able to perform a trick or two on stage. Cousin David's secret is that he is dating and inlove with his cousin Caroline.

Extra for a music video

April 9, 2009
This was posted on my myspace account

I just got an email from one of my yahoogroups which they are looking for extras for a music video which will be for extras and featured extras on May 4th for men and women 20-40.  The video will be a song from the 50s and takes place in a night club.

I told my friend Marcia about this and we both had emailed our photo headshot to them which they have been requesting.  We hope to hear from them sometime really soon.  Its only a matter of couple of days until they shoot the video.

Dream of a writer

I was walking on the other side of the street when passing my friend's house.  She and her husband were in their front yard relaxing the sunshine with some music.  Her husband was sitting at the window from the inside looking out.

She was holding up waving the book in the air getting herself overexcited.  The book turned out to be the novel that I had written and finally got published.  I walked across the street as she congratulated me about publishing my first novel and wanted me to autograph the book.

She wanted to do a toast so she poured some kind of drinking beverage which looked like white wine.  As she was toasting, I looked over at her husband and he was crying.  He knew I wanted my book published.  He then pointed over out to the street and told me they were waiting for me.  I then started to hear voices and noises getting closer and closer.  I looked behind my shoulders and a big crowd of people who approaching the house holding swinging my novel in the air waiting for it to get autographed.

New beginning

So its a new beginning here in Maine, with new adventures and experiences.

Disappointment with Model Actor Factor, LCC

I haven't thought about acting when I came back to the United States until I moved to Vancouver Washington 2009.  My friend Marcia was telling me that she was working in Model Actor Factor LCC which is an agency.  It was a disappointment when she didn't give me those phone calls the way she was suppose to.  Its not very professional of her.  She tells me she emails me, but I don't check my emails on a frequent basis.  I keep telling her to call me when there is something going on, just like the way she does with the more advance actors that she calls.  I hate people who are not professional about their work.  Hmmm interesting.  Yep, very disappointment.

So it was time to move on so I left Washington to move to Maine 2011.  So all I could say is "na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye"

Student's project - homeless on the streets

Yesterday I had an interesting day.  I was in the town for appointments.  I was waiting for the bus when I saw a few students coming down the street holding a video camera.  They had stopped me and explained to me that they had a project to do for class and they had asked a few people but they turned them down.  I felt kind of bad for them so I told them that I would do it.  They were so excited that one of the girls had hugged me.  They explained to me what I needed to do.  I played a role as a homeless person in the streets. It was fun that it only took about 15 minutes to do a few shoots.

These students were so appreciated that they bunched in and gave me $20.00 and thanked me for helping them out. I thought,  wow that's great. Twenty dollars in my pocket.

Stage fright

People approach me and ask if I ever get stage fright on stage.  Of course I do.  I don't know anyone who has an interest in performing arts or even have to go in front of a large group of people and speak out who would not have that feeling of stage fright.  I personally don't speak out in front of a group, I don't like the idea of speaking in front of a group.  I think that speaking in public is slightly different from from putting on an act on stage.  When a person acts on stage, they are not looking into the crowd, but the speaker would talk into the crowd.  The actor would have less fear from stage fright even though their stage fright will still remain than the person who is speaking in public. The reason why actors still have stage fright is because they still have that sunk into their head that people are going to be watching them perform, and I think it is right before the curtains open the actor would feel that the most.  I think that once the actor starts performing, they will feel more comfortable.  Sometimes psyching yourself up can help.  If you are in rehearsals, the time that you have to perform for real, you could still psych yourself up by thinking that the real performance is just another rehearsal.  Some people suggest imagining the audience in their underwear.  I am not sure if that really works.  I haven't used that technique and I don't think it would work for me.  I also think that with speakers who speak to the public, can help themselves by rehearsing in small groups that you know.  Perhaps have some people that you know come into the audience so that the speaker doesn't have to feel nervous or panicky.  But the fact is that you will be alright at the end of the day.

The "LIKE" button

you know, it is really annoying when you send your friends on facebook links to something that you hope for them to subscribe to or join, even attach a note along with your link.  They tend to click on the "like" button and they don't even bother opening the link you sent them.  What's the point of sending them links if they are going to click on the "like" button.  If there was a way to delete the "like" button, I would.

I had created a yahoo group for The Hip show and I sent out a link to friends about The Hip Show's yahoogroup and by them signing up to the yahoogroup will give them updates on what is happening with the show and to be sure to join so they could get those updates.

There were quite a few who just clicked on the 'like' button, and there were a few who deleted that entry. When I noticed this, I then continued with my message by typing, "PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THE LIKES AS IT DOESN'T HELP THE YAHOOGROUP. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS BY JOINING IN ON THE GROUP."

The like button happens to be an issue that everybody falls into as a simple response.  Actually I think that by clicking on the like button is a lazy way to respond.  Don't get me wrong, that I do click on the like button every once in a while, but what I try to do is click the like button with a following message to give them some feedback.

Can you do the accent?

I was having such a blast in Ireland with Performing Arts that I was wondering if I could get into any community theater.  Bernadette had introduced me to Eddie Kerr, who is a producer and script writer for theater.

I do have to thank Bernadette for introducing me to more theater work.

Eddie Kerr was working on a play for "The Interrogation of Ambrose Fogarty".  I was going to play an English Officer and I couldn't get that damn English accent.  I couldn't pick it up.  You would had thought after 8 years of living in Ireland I would had picked up with the accent.

Since I couldn't do the English accent, Eddie Kerr still had me participate in the show.  I had worked on the stage lighting/sounds.  This was interesting.  I ended up enjoying this.  I wouldn't mind working on Stage lighting/sounds again.

Blog Talk Radio

As you well know that I had created a blogtalkradio for The Hip Show.  Its been a success during the Christmas holidays and enjoyed working on the show.  I do continue to work on the show.  I am presently looking for actors, singers, and so on to be able to come onto the show as a special guest to discuss topics of the show.

I do have another blogtalkradio account for the bear community so I am just starting out that show.  A few people are interested in the show and discuss the possibilities. I hope to see something good on these shows.  Only time will tell.

The Hip Show

My friend Marcia from (Model Actor Factor) had created a FaceBook page and called it The Marcia & Brian’s Dance Party and she wanted me to be part of the page as a modulator.  The page was for placing music & music videos from back in the day bringing back those members from the 70s, 80s & 90s.  We then had discussed about having The Marcia & Brian’s Dance Party as a show on UStream so I created the page under my account.  I thought it would be a good idea to have our own talk show playing music and discussions.  It turned out that it was difficult for Marcia to participate in The Marcia & Brian’s Dance Party and only participated in one show out of 7 shows altogether that I ended up stopping further shows because she was letting me down so many times.  I felt that it wasn’t The Marcia & Brian’s Dance Party if she doesn’t participate, so after our Christmas special 2010, I stopped further shows.

The Hip Show was born around Christmas 2010.  I wanted to do something with this show.  I felt The Hip Show has potential and wanted to do something different.  I created an account for The Hip Show on Ustream and just started off with just plain talking.  I then created a Twitter account as well as a Facebook page for The Hip Show.

Fall of 2011 came and I had just realized I forgotten that I have an account with blogtalkradio so I decided to use my blogtalkradio account for The Hip Show and started making shows around Thanksgiving and have been making shows ever since.

Couple of EXTRAS in Derry

During the Eurocat program at The Playhouse, I made a new friend.  Her name was Angela.  We built up a very nice friendship.  I found it very interesting how she knew when movies were going to be filmed in Derry.  There was one movie called Sunset Heights where we booked as extras.  Shawna Rooney who was the co-ordinater for Eurocat at the time was becoming difficult that she wanted us to work on our show rather than running off onto the set of Sunset Heights.  There were five of us that went down to be extras.  It was our opportunity of a few seconds of fame.  Sadly to say that when the movie came out, our scene as extras was pretty dark due to the fact that the scene supposedly been Halloween night.

Angela did it again.  She found another movie called Surfing with William.  We both played Paparazzi photographers.  We really enjoyed the 10 minute movie when it came out.  Actually, I never saw the movie until about 4 years ago when it appeared on YouTube so that was really nice to see.

The Playhouse Theater

So the two year Community Drama was finished up at MaGee University in Derry Ireland.  What happens now?   I thought about this and I have to say that did enjoy the class and you know what?  If I could to do it again I would.  That class was fun and I realized that I also enjoyed performing on stage.  My friend Bernadette from class introduced me a program called EuroCAT at The Playhouse.

EuroCAT stands for Euro because it’s in the European and CAT for Community Arts Training.  I thought that was interesting.  EuroCAT is a 10-week course (1 night a week), that covers a variety of things such as Visual Arts, Improvisations, Community Drama, Dancing, Stage Lighting and a few other areas.  I could only imagine how well EuroCAT had progressed because nobody knew how it was going to turn out.  The time that I attended the EuroCAT program, that was the second season for The Playhouse has been organizing EuroCAT.

We had to do a performance on our 10th week and it could be anything that we wanted to do for our piece for week 10.  My piece was a battle between two lions where later they become friends walking away.  The girl who was my partner of this project backed out because she felt that she couldn’t do it.  I had to figure out what to do with my piece.  I got my friend Angela to participate in my performance as well as another girl.  Now I got some actors I could think about what to do with my performance.  I had to perfect idea and that was about a girl’s fairytale.  Angela played the part of the little girl.  There was the other woman who was the fairy, and of course I was Jack from the Jack In The Box.  The storyline of this fairytale was that the little girl was grounded and was sent to her room.  There she throws a slight fit and then finds herself falling asleep beside the big jumble size Jack in the box.  Of course I played the role of Jack.  She wakes up and discovers a fairy dancing around in her room.  She waves her wand and brings Jack to life where they started dancing around the room.  The three of them were having so much fun when the little girl hears her mother to come down for her dinner.  Jack jumped back into his box, the little girl hugs Jack.  He waves to the little girl, the fairy waves her magic wand into the hair and taps her wand to Jack and switches him back into a toy again.

The story of C'mere

Copyright © 1996

The script is called Cmere taken place in a waiting room in the hospital where family awaits for their mother's prognosis trying to figure out the mysterious person who called for the ambulance. The caller who happens to be the toyboy of the family's mother finds himself in the middle of the family affairs watching every move that they make. To make things more interesting, Blabber-mouth Bernadette, the wife of oldest son Arnie, continues on complaining.  She is always into everybody's business.   Arnie's sister Caroline just cannot stand Bernadette. Suddenly everything evolves around secrets and Bernadette just had to get to the bottom of them all and gets the shock of her life at the end.

Stage play writing

I had been thinking about Ireland and about the C'mere script which my acting friends and I had gathered and performed back in 1996 when we were acting class.

C'mere is only about 25-minutes long.  About a year I was working on the script, fooling around with the script and extending it to a full length 2-hour stage play.  So I decided that I am going to dig into my file for the script and start working on it again.  I really do think this script has potential and would leave viewers laughing.  I will be working around my busy schedule around the script by working on the play for about an hour, every other day or couple of days.

My first agent.....wow what a let down

Since my friend Marcia has been working for Model Actor Factor Lcc, she came to me with possible auditions.  I have been with the agency for 2 years until I then moved to Maine.  I never saw any action from the agency except for having my picture on the agency's website.  This was a let down.  There were a couple of parts she was mentioning to me such as the Chevy commercial, which could had been my big break in commercials.  But I never heard anything about it.  I asked Marcia about the Chevy commercial and she told me that they went to Seattle Washington to do the commercial.  From my understanding is that (And I will quote her on this) "I call everybody about parts".   I call everybody?  Really?  I never got a call from her about that they went up North.

She then mentioned about a part in Grimm and put my name down - supposedly.  I never heard anything from that either.  I do consider myself amatuer actor on the side but c'mon, lets get with the program.  One thing that I do not like is people wasting my time and getting my hopes up for nothing.  I also noticed that she stayed very close with the bigger actors that have connections with celebrities.  She may deny this but that is one thing she cannot accept is the truth that she was wrong.

She had let me down many times and she threw made this as a habit out of it that I just had given up on that.  Not for just parts that she let me down, but on getting together as friends as well to hang out.  Once I got the news about the Chevy commercial, and the many times I invited her over to come hang out and let me down like that without any phone calls that she was going to be late or not show up, I was done.  I was getting sick and tired of just being a face for Model Actor Factor that nothing was happening.  There was all talk but no action.  I had enough of it.

Class Residental Weekend

The class residental weekend was pretty interesting.  It was quite fun actually.  We stayed at a two floor house which was booked for us.  The house had about five, six, or seven rooms.  I had brought my getter blaster so we could have some music to listen with and use it for our rehearsals.  We had to think about what we were going to do for our performance.  We had split up in to three groups, then it was up to us to present our work to the Instructor by Sunday.

The first night there at the house we all went out to this jazzy bar and had a nice atmosphere.  The bar was an open stage where anybody could be able to go up and play with the guitar.  Eddie, a classmate in his mid-twenties, went on up and played the song and sang to "Its probably me - Sting".

I think it was that next morning that we were awakened by one of our classmates, Mary, at 5.30am or 6am in the morning playing loud culture music playing her tamberines.  I went downstairs and I saw her in the livingroom jumping up and down.  I couldn't believe she was wide awake and full of energy.  I wasn't pissed off but it was interesting how Mary was full of life that time of the morning.

I remember Mary who was in her late fortys who was a nice woman and nice to talk to.  She expressed very well with her that some of the women in the group said something and it offended Mary and became very hostel and it made her feel uncomfortable.  Lizzy, who was a blond butch woman.  I think she was a lesbian because never discussed about boyfriends or that she was married or anything.  For some reason I had my doubts about Lizzy, and I knew she was going to start up something and she did with Mary.  Mary felt left out from the class and I thought it was wrong for them to do that.  I don't blame Mary for leaving the class completely during the residential weekend.

As for our group, we didn't start working on our piece until that Sunday and we had to present to the Instructor with something.  The five of us sat down in a room and started to put our minds together what to do.  We decided a comedy act.  I had such a buzz with our production C'mere.  I was very nervous about performing on stage but at the same time it was fun.  C'mere was such a great skit that we had created.

The show was completed and our drama class was finished.  It was kind of sad after the production because it meant we all had to depart and go on our own ways.  It was interesting how we have so much fun with something and suddenly have to finish it up.  Saying goodbye was really sad for me.  I really enjoyed the performance of C'mere and I wish we had performed several times before finishing off with our class.

To wrap it up, as a closure we each had to have a chance to say something, kind of like our final words and what we thought about the classes.  I thought that was a nice way to close up the class before we all went to our separate ways.

Today, I keep in touch with two of the performers who worked with me on C'mere.  Bernadette and Arny.  They were such great performers.

The McCleary family waits in the waiting room at a hospital where their mother was in the ICU waiting for their mother’s prognosis. The question is in the air who phoned for the ambulance and it was a big mystery to them as there wasn’t anybody at the house as far as they knew.

They all start rambling on about their lives and secrets started floating in the air which Blabber mouth Bernadette tries to solve as she loved to get into everybody’s business trying to solve everything. Caroline McCleary was the daughter just cannot stand her sister-in-law Bernadette.

Another question was in the air wondering who really was there for the money because they all knew their mother had alot of money stashed away and most likely it is in the Will somewhere.

Little that they suspect, all along in the waiting room the caller was been with them the whole time listening in every word that they say, every move that they made and gets very disgusted how they were behaving and suddenly explodes with rage due to the face that they aren't really there for her but there for the money.

Writer's Short Dialogue Notes:
Bernadette (Arnie's wife) is just about to leave to get some water for someone who has been waiting in the waiting area who she has been concerned during the whole time since she came into the waiting room. Caroline (Arnie's sister) is frustrated and she cannot wait for Bernadette to leave so she could get a moment's peace.

Bernie - Are you coming with me, Carly?

Caroline (folds arms across her chest snobbish) - HA!

Bernie - Your in some mood. I don't know what's wrong with everybody today? First Arnie, now you. I wonder who's going to be --

Caroline (frustrated) - Oh just go away, Berndatte.

Arnie is swaying getting really annoyed.

Bernie - C'mere, read this magazine.

Caroline - Give me that.

Bernie - Look at page 19. You could loose 6 pounds in 5 days. Alright 2 minutes. I'll be 2 minutes. Alright?

Caroline - Go Take your time. Take your time.

Bernie leaves stage. Caroline and Arnie goes crazy. Arnie sits down.
Caroline (grinds her teeth) Oh my gawd, ARnie. How do you stick that woman. How do you stick her?

Arnie (laughs) - I don't know Caroline. She DOES go on about it, doesn't she?

Caroline - She keeps going on about it? She goes on, and on and on and she never shuts up!

They sit down and suddenly started cracking jokes and laughing and giggling.

Arnie - You know, sometimes you just sound like mother when you said that.

Caroline - Well maybe that's the only one thing mother and I have in common.

Arnie - You know mother can't stand her.

Caroline - I know. She hates her costume.

Acting in the eyes

So yes, I had lived in Derry Northern Ireland for eight years, and I tell ya, that was an experience.  I was only supposedly to stay for thre months.  But after three months my aunt asked me what I was planning on to do the night before departure.  I ended up staying as I wanted to feel the nature and experience Northern Ireland.

Around 1994 I wanted to do something in my spare time, something fun, so I went to MaGee University and had taken up an acting class.  I had completed five out of six terms (two years) of Community Drama.  I still remember it as if it was yesterday.  The class had to travel for a residential weekend that we had to work together to prepare for our show as our final.  The production was divided in three group performances.

There were five of us in our group and we worked on a skit called C'mere, a 25-minute play, a family met up at a hospital's waiting area where their mother collapsed and someone called the ambulance.  It was a big mystery to the family.  They suddenly found themselves into a pile of secrets they didn't know about each other.

I could still hear the announcement in my head. "Arnold McCleary!  Arnold McCleary!  Your mother's condition is deteriorating rapidly, Doctors had diagnosed with a major cerebral thrombosis and they don't hold out much hope...at all.  Will you and your party care to proceed to the Intensive Care Unit where last rights are now being served.  The Mental Health and Social Services board would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your family for having a breavement with us at this hospital. We look forward to hearing from you again.  Thank you and have a nice day."

Our skit was so histerical that I couldn't believe that we were coming up with these funny ideas.  I had decided extend this 25-minute skit to a full length play because I believe that it has potential.

Brian welcomes you

I had created this blog so that I could express and share my feelings into this blog, and also to take you on this journey of mine.  Sad to say that I am not performing at the moment.  I have not performed since I was living in Northern Ireland in the late 90s.  So I returned to the United States year 2000.  I am in school at the moment and majoring in Programming, and some of you know that college can sometimes be difficult for students.

So lets get started with this journey.  Just sit back, get comfy, and enjoy reading these entries.
